Arizona Captive Quarterly

News
President's Message

I was pleased and honored that the members of Arizona Captive Insurance Association re-elected me as the association's President for 2006-2007 at this year's annual meeting held during the AzCIA Conference.  As President, I want to thank all of the attendees and board members for a truly successful conference at the Arizona Biltmore. AzCIA demonstrated both significant growth and an interesting program designed to inform, educate and profile Arizona as a major captive jurisdiction.

Latest News from the Arizona Department of Insurance

This past quarter has been productively busy in a number of ways. In April, we were hosted by Caitlin Morgan and Sonora Captive Management for a presentation to their customers and prospects in Indianapolis on Arizona as a captive domicile. Later that same month we were invited by the Nashville RIMS to make a similar presentation to their membership. In May, we participated in marketing efforts at the Crittendon Medical Conference in Phoenix and I spoke at the first annual USA Risk Group Conference in Las Vegas. We also, of course, participated in the spectacularly successful Arizona Captive Insurance Conference at the Biltmore in Phoenix. In June we will assist the AzCIA in marketing efforts at the Arizona Bar Conference also in Phoenix. I am very grateful to the Az CIA Board, to Judie Harrington-Carlisle and to the other sponsors of our road trips (USA Risk Group, Sonora Captive Management, Caitlin Morgan and Nashville RIMS) in helping us get the word out that Arizona is an active, interested, professional and well-respected domicile.

AzCIA Conference Committee Report

The Association's Annual Conference was held recently at The Arizona Biltmore Resort with record attendance of over 150. Most of the attendees were from outside Arizona, which is a very good sign for the recognition of Arizona as a leading captive domicile.

AzCIA Membership Committee Report

Great news to report from the AzCIA Membership Committee this month!  Since January of this year, we have added 18 new members to our membership roster, half of which are from out of state.  Ten of these are captive owners and/or affiliates in their companies, or Associate Members who are thinking about forming a captive in Arizona.  We welcome the following new members and hope they'll continue being involved in their association:
